Dr. Eddie Ramirez immigrated to the United States with his parents when he was just a year and a half old. At age nine, he discovered he was undocumented, a reality that could have placed major limits on his future. Instead, it strengthened his determination.

From a young age, he had one dream: to become a dentist.

Despite significant legal, financial, and personal barriers, Dr. Ramirez never lost sight of his goal. After completing his undergraduate studies at Portland State University in 2014, he studied at the Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry. In 2018, he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, becoming the first undocumented/DACAmented individual from Oregon to be accepted, matriculate, graduate, and practice at OHSU School of Dentistry.

Dental care shaped by community

Dr. Ramirez spent five years at a Federally Qualified Health Center serving migrant and underserved communities — an experience that deeply shaped his empathetic approach to dental care.

Knowing that visits can be intimidating, especially for those who have faced barriers or delayed treatment, he works to make every appointment clear, human, and supportive.

At Modern Edge Dental, he continues this mission in a warm, private practice setting. Beyond the clinic, Dr. Ramirez is a national leader in the American and Oregon Dental Associations and a passionate mentor, helping aspiring dental students nationwide realize that obstacles do not define outcomes.
